The Afterparty Season 2
I was super excited when Daniel Pemberton, one of the composers I most admire working today, asked me to join him in scoring the second season of Apple TV’s amazing series, The Afterparty. A comedy-drama-murder-mystery with a fantastic cast, it was always going to be good but the unique spin this show offers is that every episode is in a different genre…. so the first series jumped from Romcom to thriller, from musical to police procedral. Daniel wrote an amazing theme and score for series one (and there were some amazing songs in the series too, including the sublime Two Shots!)
Season two has some returning cast (the brilliant Sam Richardson, Zoe Chao and Tiffany Haddish) and lots of new incredible actors (Paul Walter Hauser, Elizabeth Perkins, Zach Woods among many others). And of course a whole new murder mystery and many new genres across ten episodes. I loved season one but actually think the new series, which comes out on Apple TV in July 2023, might well be even better. The show was created and directed by the awesome Christopher Miller (Lego Movie, Into the Spiderverse, 22 Jump Street).
I look forward to writing a bit more about the series and sharing some of the music for it soon!
