Angry Birds Toons

I loved working on this fantastic series of short cartoons produced by Rovio Entertainment, based on the characters from their Angry Birds game. With no dialogue and anarchic slapstick humour the ‘Toons’ recall to some extent classic cartoons like Roadrunner and Tom & Jerry, but they have more of a modern slant with a hint of postmodern playfulness. This is reflected in the music of the series which flits from Balkan-gypsy-on-speed, to epic orchestral grandiosity, to skate-punk… at drop of a hat.

They can be watched for free through Rovio’s own Toons.TV channel and they were also on Netflix last time I checked. They made a couple of series of Toons, but I only worked on the first one as after that they kept me busy working on their other series, Stella.

I didn’t actually write the theme tune from the original Angry Birds game, but was asked to create a new version of it in 2015 which is attached here.
