Tsunami (out on Nat Geo)
Tsunami: Race Against Time is a four-part series for National Geographic about the devastating tsunami of Boxing Day, 2004. Directed by Daniel Bogado (with whom I had previously worked on 9/11: One Day in America) and produced by Blast Films, I can’t begin to tell you what a privilege it was to be asked to write the score for this powerful project. I developed the music slowly with the production team in conjunction with the edit over several months, and I hope it does justice to the incredible stories the series tells. Even though it is about one of the greatest tragedies in recent history, the episodes feature many moments of hope as well as loss, as we witness some of the best aspects of humanity in the face of catastrophe.
As well as Nat Geo, Blast Films and the production team, I would like to thank all the people who helped with the score, including Nick Holland, Flora Curzon, Gus Nicholson, Steve Hickling, Martin Thornton, Harry George, and Fames Orchestra in Macedonia. The soundtrack is out now and can be found in all the usual places (Spotify, Apple Music etc). The series is out now on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in the UK.
